Amazon.ca Since Lost made its debut as a cult phenomenon in 2004, certain things seemed inconceivable. In its fourth year, some of those things, like a rescue, came to pass. The season ended with Locke (Terry O'Quinn) attempting to persuade the Oceanic Six to return, but he dies before that can happen--or so it appears--and where Jack (Matthew Fox) used to lead, Ben (Emmy nominee Michael Emerson) now takes the reins and convinces the survivors to fulfill Locke's wish. As producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse state in their commentary on the fifth-season premiere, "We're doing time travel this year," and the pile-up of flashbacks and flash-forwards will make even the most dedicated fan dizzy. Ben, Jack, Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Sun (Yunjin Kim), and Kate (Evangeline Lilly) arrive to find that Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) have been part of the Dharma Initiative for three years. The writers also clarify the roles that Richard (Nestor Carbonell) and Daniel (Jeremy Davies) play in the island's master plan, setting the stage for the prophecies of Daniel's mother, Eloise Hawking (Fionnula Flanagan), to play a bigger part in the sixth and final season. Dozens of other players flit in and out, some never to return. A few, such as Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), live again in the past. Lost could've wrapped things up in five years, as The Wire did, but the show continues to excite and surprise. As Lindelof and Cuse admit in the commentary, there's a "fine line between confusion and mystery," adding, "it makes more sense if you're drunk." Other extras include deleted scenes, featurettes, a "lost" episode of Mysteries of the Universe, and commentary from writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz on "He's Our You," a reference to Sayid, who tries to change the future by changing the past. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

A Milestone May 24, 2010 Daniel Toutant (Montreal, QC Canada) Lost represents a milestone in TV series, one that shall remain entertaining over many generations to come, impervious to changes in society values and fashions.
Couldn't Stop Watching!!! March 23, 2010 Doug Woods This season the creators of Lost outdid themselves!! I saw the first half of the season on TV, but enjoyed seeing those episodes again, especially in amazing Blu-ray!!! The picture quality is awesome!!! So many pieces of the Lost puzzle are coming together, and the attention to detail to remain true to the previous seasons, is exceptional!! And the season finale? I'm not into spoiling so I'll say nothing more than WOOOOOWWWWWW!!!! Awesome. If you're a fan of the series, treat yourself, curl up, and watch this over a weekend in awesome Blu-ray in front of a big TV screen.
Lost 5 has lost its way January 15, 2010 Alistair Redman (Canada) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I loved seasons 1 and 2 but the plot tended to weaken into seasons 3 and 4. Now we are into season 5 and the plot has weakened further to the point where I am losing interest. The only reason why I watch it is too find out what happens next, which is not a particularly good reason to watch a TV series.
Soon we will find out Jack is Kate's uncle, John Locke is Ben's Son and Hugo is the president of Mars!
The story is running around in circles trying to find its way. I sincerely hope season six gets us back on track with a steady series of good episodes answering all the questions once and for all.
Lost Season 5 Bluray January 3, 2010 Robert A. Manson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great Bluray, Awesome show, its a must own on bluray. Cant wait to see the final season.
Glorious season, terrible package December 18, 2009 izikavazo 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Lost is by far the best show currently on TV. This season was the best yet. The show has finally accepted the fact that it's a sci-fi show. I have literally nothing bad to say about it, the season ended on a few very sad notes, but that's not a bad thing.
I do have a problem with the packaging. The first four seasons had great packaging with a nice shiny plastic sheath. This season they ignored the original packaging and instead went with a cardboard sheath and a smaller package. Possibly they wanted to save money, but I doubt that. Lost fans would pay anything for these DVDs. Very disappointing.
I might not buy the Season 6 DVDs, after all they're going to look terrible on my shelf.
